Sablim – New York is a luxury apparel brand rooted in self-expression, empowerment, and global connection. Through bold affirmations strategically placed on vibrant, color-rich garments, Sablim transforms casual wear into a powerful form of communication. Each piece is designed not just to be worn, but to speak — reflecting moods, identities, and a lifestyle that celebrates confidence and authenticity. With an emphasis on collaboration and creativity, Sablim fosters a community where ideas flow freely and clothing becomes a canvas for positivity and purpose. This debut collection is a direct reflection of this vision — unapologetically bold, emotionally resonant, and designed to make you feel just as powerful as you look.

The Process

Rwandan Inspiration

My client returned from a trip to Rwanda with his family deeply inspired by the experience, and I knew that energy needed to be woven into the collection. I began by identifying the key animals that left the biggest impression on him — with the lion taking center stage. Symbolizing strength, courage, and leadership, the lion became a powerful emblem for the line, capturing the spirit of what he felt while there and translating it into a bold, meaningful design element.

First Sample Fitting

In the second fitting, we saw our top color selections come to life in person, confirmed that our previous fit adjustments were spot on, and finalized the patterns for production.

For this project, my client approached me with a brand concept, a few powerful definitions, and a clear vision: to create a clothing line that quite literally speaks to people — through sweatshirts featuring inspiring, thought-provoking words and meanings. From there, I led the full design and development process. I conducted trend research to ensure the collection felt relevant and marketable, refined the initial design concepts, and created detailed technical drawings and tech packs ready for production. I also sourced and secured a manufacturer that aligned with the brand’s quality, pricing, and timeline goals. After three rounds of sampling, countless tweaks, and many late-night color decisions, the final collection is now in production and set to launch in Fall 2025. This project showcases my ability to take a brand vision and carry it through every stage — from idea to execution — with a focus on both creative impact and commercial success.
